Established in 1973 Tyne Housing is a charitable housing association that provides affordable housing for those who are most in need of supported accommodation.
Managing keys to the properties they provide is crucial to ensure that access to properties is swift and secure, which is why they identified an issue with the unsecure and unmanageable key hook system that was in place. The issues this way of managing keys presented included loss of keys, no visibility of who has key sets that are not in place, unable to quickly locate keys, and key bunches falling off pegs and key rings.
Time wasted and frustrations caused by searching for keys initiated a search for a solution, and this is when Tyne Housing came across Keytracker. After discussing with our in-house sales team it was identified that the mechanical system with additional security cabinet would be the best solution for their needs and budget.
With a 100-key position mechanical unit in a steel push button cabinet, keys are now managed using a peg in, peg out system whereby users have a unique peg in a range of colours and engravings, these are placed into the system to retrieve a key set and will be locked in place until the key set is returned.
This straightforward way of managing keys means that the user is instantly identifiable and keys cannot be placed back in the wrong slot on the board.
