London Borough of Barnet
The London Borough of Barnet is a suburban London borough in North London. The borough was formed in 1965 from parts of the ceremonial counties of Middlesex and Hertfordshire. The council have been working hard to ensure that Barnet is a vibrant, diverse, and successful city-suburb of London with big ambitions. They consistently make sure that their residents get to enjoy a clean and green environment, excellent schools, low levels of crime, good transport links, as well as high quality housing and public spaces.
Challenges:
Before being introduced to the Keytracker management system, London Borough managed their keys and assets through a simple printed manual form. This is a common process that many companies use but it’s not secure at all and allows for any authorised personnel to access all keys. In addition to this, it was very easy for keys to be misplaced due to the inability to efficiently monitor the keys that were going in and out. This was a huge issue for London Borough as the organisation would have to change the locks belonging to any keys that went missing, furthermore costing them thousands of pounds a year.
Solution:
To improve their process, London Borough of Barnet, spoke with a sales team member at Keytracker to discuss what management solution would be the most suitable for them. They decide to go with an electronic system as this would be the most appropriate and provided them with everything that they were looking for. The electronic system is linked to their existing Access/ID cards meaning they can track which members are accessing the cupboard, which keys are being removed and at what time. The system is easy to use and allows for specific restrictions to be implemented for specific staff members.
“We haven’t lost a single key or set of keys since we implemented the system in early 2019 leading to a saving of approx. £15,000 overall. It’s easy, accommodating and it has already repaid itself by savings on lost keys and lock changes. It is a no brainer for me.”
